Joyce Fleming, a qualified horticultural judge, has been an amateur rose hybridizer since 1985 and has developed a collection of fine, hardy hybrid roses selected for disease and insect resistance. Her work has focused on floribunda and shrub roses to develop cultivars that are hardier for zone four while maintaining being disease and insect resistance.
Joyce graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. Between University years, she assisted Dr. E.F. Palmer in gladiolus and lily breeding at the Horticultural Research Institute, Vineland Station, Ontario. (He originated the famous 'Picardy' gladiolus which is still in commerce today.)
Her husband Bob has been a popular garden show host in the Niagara Peninsula for the past 25 years. Their Rose Royce website has a collection of gardening and rose breeding tips for the Niagara Region.
